Corlears Cares is the parent-led community service program at school. It offers a yearlong diet of community service activities for our children in order to nurture in them a heightened mindfulness of the needs of their community and a sense of social responsibility that inspires action. Corlears Cares encourages community service action individually, in small groups and as a school; it seeks to cover a broad range of issues, including the environment, endangered species, poverty, illness, hunger, literacy, and homelessness; and it talks of community in terms of our families, our school, our neighborhoods, our city and the world.
Throughout the school year the extracurricular events offered include:
- Pinwheels for Peace
- It’s My Park Day
- NY Cares Coat Drive
- Food Drive
- Loose Change Jar Fundraiser
- Earth Day Event
- Community Service Playdates
