Welcome

Welcome to Corlears! Corlears’ sole focus is educating children, ages 2 ½ - 10. Our excellent elementary school and early childhood program have been created and refined over the last 45 years with the whole child in mind. Our faculty specializes in a deep understanding of how children develop academically, emotionally, and socially throughout these years. They view each child not only as an individual learner, but  how well the child functions in a group setting. Corlears’ teachers respect and care for each child in ways that allow children to flourish with confidence and high self-esteem.

Our co-educational and progressive nursery through fifth grade independent school is located on a quiet block on West 15th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. We are within short walking distance from the world famous Chelsea art galleries, the food hall Chelsea Market, and the Highline, the exciting walkway above the Hudson River.

Our facility houses spacious, sun-filled classrooms equipped with a variety of age-appropriate materials, books, and learning tools that foster a love of learning that lasts a child’s lifetime. Our art studio, music room, foreign language classroom, and large gym all contribute to a well-rounded, stimulating educational experience for our children.

Corlears’ vibrant mission is to cultivate joy in learning through the active investigation of core curricular themes. We are committed to the stimulation of intellectual curiosity. We value creative problem-solving and support the growth of socially aware students within a diverse, intimate, and involved community.
